In ground Swimming Pool
An in ground swimming pool involves a lot of work and takes time to
build, which means its expensive. However, hearing friends and family
playing in your pool during a summer day makes them worth all that effort
and cost.
Before deciding on the type of in ground swimming pool you want you will
need to remember that you will probably need to landscape your entire garden. You
may also want to think about all the accessories required and bare in mind
that costs can soon spiral. The cost of the pool may seem reasonable but
when the cost of all the other factors are added to the cost of the pool you
may no longer consider it "reasonable."
It is important that you understand the pros and cons of in ground swimming
pools. First, in ground pools cost a lot more than above ground pools. They
are more permanent and will add value to your home if and when you want to
sell it. It will also mean your house will sell a lot quicker as swimming pools
add to a properties desirability.
One of the major reasons people go for the more expensive option of an in
ground swimming pool is that you can decide on the depth you would like. A
shallow end for the kids to splash around in gradually sloping to a deep end
for swimming. Perhaps you want a diving board... No problem, although a 25
ft deep pool is going to cost a lot more than a 6 ft pool.
The planning of an in ground swimming pool needs some thought. Deciding
first on the location then depth, shape, whether heated or not and how you
will be fencing your pool are all big decisions but fun to make. A fence not
only gives you some privacy but will also stop unsupervised children from
being at risk. A pool can be a magnet for local kids if they know you are
out all day or perhaps on vacation. Its a good idea to have a lock on the
gate to prevent unwanted access if your home is left empty for any length of
time.
A heated pool is great for year round fun but how the water is heated may be
a matter of finances. Water is pumped through a heater that is fired by
either gas or electric. This constant recycle process can also include a
filter to keep the water nice and clean. Solar heating is another option but
the pool will have to be located in a position where it is in the sun most
of the day and if you want to use it in the winter, a mild climate would be
needed. This type of heating system can be costly to install but obviously
costs nothing to run so can pay off long term.
Chlorine has been the preferred method of keeping pools bacteria free for
many years now. The problem with chlorine is that it can cause sore eyes and
even problems with sensitive skin. The relatively new kid on the block is a
bromide based chemical as its less harsh although more is required and it
costs more than the traditional method of chlorine.
Type Of Deck Surround
Many people use
wooden decking to surround their in ground swimming pool but
can soon realize that wood and water do not work together for long. Use a
good quality timber, preferably a hardwood with grooves to help the water
disperse and your deck will be fine. Some opt for a
concrete patio for their in ground swimming pool
because it can be poured at the same time as the pool walls are installed.
The concrete deck then becomes part of the pool itself. The concrete is
usually left with a rough surface to aid grip and prevent any nasty slips.
