A Swimming Pool Cover
Regardless of the extra work and time involved, there will be a time when
you come to look at your swimming pool cover not as an inconvenience but as
a major money saving device. Usually that time comes in the fall when leaves
are falling from nearby trees and landing harmlessly onto your cover.
A pool left uncovered is asking for trouble especially in the fall when
leaves are blowing around. Apart from the fact they will need to be fished
out with a net, they can cause havoc with a filtering system by clogging it
up. This puts extra pressure on the pump and can cause major damage. They
can also do damage to the heating system as well. Save time and money by
always using a swimming pool cover when the pool isn't being used.
There are two basic covers that you can choose from and both swimming pool
cover types serves its own specific purpose. A solar swimming pool cover,
which is similar to a heavy duty bubble wrap. It floats on top of the pool
and provides heat for the water in your pool. Rolled onto a bar at one end
of in in ground pool, it is easily pulled onto the water's surface. The
cover has thousands of bubbles that work like a magnifying glass to focus
the sun's rays on to the water, warming it while your pool is not in use.
Winter Cover.
There is a heavier duty swimming pool cover that you should use if you shut
down the pool for the season, especially in the colder climates. Throughout
the winter months, ice, snow, leaves and other debris that seems to always
accompany bad weather, can build up on a pools surface and a swimming pool
cover will stop most of it from getting into the pool.
After really bad weather there will be a layer of water on top of the cover
from the melting snow and spring rains. This will have to be cleaned off
before you remove the cover. If you fail to clean the swimming pool cover
off before removing it, everything on the cover will end up falling into the
pool. This will contaminate the water and require a lot more chemical
treatments before it is ready for a person to dive in for the first time.
The winter cover should be neatly folded and stored while the pool is in use
during the summer.
Both of the above types of swimming pool cover are available for above
ground pools. The solar cover is particularly important for above ground
pools as they tend not to be fitted with any type of heating system.
