A Swimming Pool Heater
There are plenty of methods for having a swimming pool heater so there is
no reason why you shouldn't be able to use your your pool every day of the
year if you wish. You can choose from gas fired heaters, either natural or
propane, or an electric one. You can even use the sun with a solar powered
swimming pool heater that can make your pool more comfortable and enjoyable.
The most popular method of heating swimming pools at the moment is with a
gas water heater. It works very similar to your homes central heating. The
water is pumped through the heater where it passes over a flame before
returning back to the pool. This constant rotation helps keep the water at
your pre-chosen temperature. You might think it would take forever to heat
the contents of pools but its actually pretty quick as long as you have one
relative to the size of your pool.
They are also fairly easy to use and maintain and nowadays are very
efficient. The only downfall of the gas swimming pool heater is the
fluctuation in gas prices. As gas goes up, your pools heating costs go up.
Its the same with a propane swimming pool heater. The efficiency and ease of
install and operation as greatly improved over the last few years but it
will be the operating costs that put many pools owners off when deciding to
have heating or not. An electric swimming pool heater has a similar problem
to its gas counterpart. It takes a lot of power to heat a pool so any slight
increases in the cost of electric is going to make a dramatic effect to the
size of your utility bill.
Solar power, or energy from the sun is as yet, free so doesn't cost anything
to run. Because of this the initial cost is expensive but a solar powered
swimming pool heater will soon pay for itself. If at all possible you should
give this method strong consideration. Water is pumped into cells that have
been heated by being exposed to the suns rays. These cells retain the heat
and are in a variety of sizes. The size is related to the size of pool they
are heating. They are usually mounted out of site on a nearby roof such as a
garage building. If your pool is above ground the cells are set up by its
side.
A solar powered swimming pool heater is not suitable for everyone. It will
depend on where you want the pool located and of course your climate but if
it is possible the financial benefits are obvious.
